We are looking for an excellent, experienced and enthusiastic Level 2 Swimming Teacher to join our growing swimming programme at St Joseph’s College, SE19 3HL.
This is an opportunity for a teacher who genuinely enjoys swimming and takes pride in delivering high-quality, personalised lessons in a professional private teaching environment.
Our Saturday programme includes small group lessons of up to four children, as well as 1:1 sessions. The successful candidate must be confident adapting their teaching style to suit different ages, abilities and learning needs.
The role:
You will be expected to confidently teach across a range of abilities, including:
- Pre-school swimmers
- Children of different ages and abilities
- Adult swimmers
- SEND swimmers, particularly through 1:1 sessions
- Small groups of up to 4 children
- Individual 1:1 lessons
The ideal candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a recognised Level 2 Swimming Teacher qualification
- Holds a valid N/RSTC or equivalent recognised rescue qualification – essential
- Has experience teaching children and adults
- Is confident working with SEND swimmers
- Has experience delivering private or semi-private swimming lessons
- Is passionate about swimming and genuinely enjoys teaching
- Can manage a small group effectively while maintaining safety, engagement and high teaching standards
- Is reliable, punctual and organised
- Has excellent communication skills
- Has a friendly, professional manner and strong personal presentation
- Is confident and comfortable working independently
- Is physically fit and able to safely work in and around the pool
- Understands the importance of safeguarding, professionalism and maintaining appropriate boundaries when working with children
- Takes responsibility for creating a safe, positive and enjoyable learning environment
What we are looking for
We are particularly interested in teachers who understand that private swimming lessons require more than simply delivering a lesson plan. We want someone who can build a good relationship with swimmers and parents, understand individual needs, communicate clearly and provide a consistently professional service.
You should be someone who takes pride in their work, arrives prepared and on time, and represents the programme to a high standard.
