ELATT Sixth Form
ELATT Sixth Form supports young people, including those with SEND and SEMH needs, to develop independence and progress into work, further learning or training. Our programmes combine vocational learning, English and Maths with a high level of pastoral and keyworker support, ensuring that each learner has a clear, personalised pathway.
SEND support is central to our provision. We provide structured, needs-led support through consistent routines, targeted interventions and close working with external agencies. Staff work collaboratively to remove barriers to learning, build resilience and develop the personal and employability skills learners need to succeed.
We maintain a consistent and supportive environment, alongside employer-led projects and enrichment, so that students gain both the confidence and practical experience to thrive beyond Sixth Form.

Annual leave: 30 days per annum plus bank/public holidays (pro rata)
Probation period: Appointments are subject to a six-month probation period

Aims of the post
ELATT is seeking a passionate and skilled Maths teacher to deliver GCSE Mathematics and Functional Skills Maths (Entry Level to Level 2) to young people and adult learners.
This role is ideal for a teacher who believes that confidence in maths can transform life chances. You will support learners to overcome barriers, develop essential numeracy skills and achieve qualifications that enable progression into further education, apprenticeships and employment.
Many of our learners may have had challenging experiences of maths in school, including learners with SEND, SEMH needs, interrupted education or low confidence. We are looking for a teacher who can build positive relationships, engage learners through creative and inclusive teaching and maintain high expectations for achievement and behaviour.
The successful candidate will be organised, enthusiastic and learner-centred, with a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities of the Post
The post holder will be required to:
- Teach GCSE Mathematics and Functional Skills Maths (Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2) in line with awarding body specifications and ELATT curriculum intent.
- Deliver engaging, inclusive and well-structured lessons that support learners with a wide range of starting points and abilities.
- Plan and prepare high-quality teaching resources, schemes of work, lesson plans and differentiated learning activities.
- Develop learners' confidence and application of maths in everyday life, employment and further study.
- Assess learners' work accurately and consistently, providing constructive feedback to support progress and achievement.
- Track and monitor learner attendance, progress and achievement using agreed systems.
- Prepare learners effectively for examinations and assessments, including revision strategies and exam techniques.
- Maintain accurate learner records including initial assessments, progress reviews, individual learning plans and examination data.
- Participate in learner recruitment, enrolment, induction and initial assessment activities.
- Contribute to learner enrichment activities, employer engagement projects and wider sixth form initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with curriculum teams, support staff, key workers and managers to maximise learner achievement.
- Support learners with SEND, EAL and SEMH needs through inclusive teaching and appropriate reasonable adjustments.
- Uphold ELATT's safeguarding, equality, diversity, health and safety and professional conduct policies at all times.
- Participate in quality assurance activities including lesson observations, standardisation, moderation and curriculum development.
- Provide cover for absent members of staff when required and undertake any other reasonable duties to support the effective operation of the organisation.
Person Specification
Essential
- A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert.Ed, DTLLS or equivalent). (F)
- A subject specialism in Mathematics or a closely related discipline with a minimum qualification at Level 4. (F)
- At least two years' experience teaching GCSE Mathematics and/or Functional Skills Maths within Further Education, Adult Learning or Sixth Form provision. (F)
- Experience of planning, delivering and assessing maths programmes leading to recognised qualifications. (F)Teamwork
Desirable
- Experience of supporting GCSE resit learners.
- Experience of teaching learners with SEND, SEMH and/or EAL needs.
- Experience of working with learners who have low confidence or negative prior experiences of maths.
- Experience of delivering maths within vocational or employability programmes.
- Experience of using educational technology to enhance maths teaching and learning.
