We have a fantastic opportunity for a Laboratory Assistant to join the team at our industry-leading Immingham site, to play a vital role in supporting our quality assurance work by carrying out a variety of laboratory tasks.
What you'll be doing:
- Collecting, preparing and analysing samples using laboratory techniques including XRF, Butane Adsorption, Dean and Stark moisture, Ash and Volatile (High Temperature Oven), basic wet chemistry, titration methods and Sizing.
- Preparing reports and maintaining accurate records of data and observations.
- Following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
- Collaborating with team members to ensure smooth workflow and project completion.
- Cleaning and maintaining laboratory equipment and work areas.
- Supervising the sample stores, ensuring correct retention periods for retained samples.
- Working according to the following Management Systems: Quality (ISO 9001), Environmental (ISO 14001), Occupational Health and Safety (ISO 45001).
- Operating with Good Laboratory Practice at all times.
Our requirements:
- Chemistry A-level (minimum)
- Experience of working in a laboratory environment.
- Knowledge of laboratory techniques and methodologies.
- Proficiency in maths for data analysis and calculations.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data collection.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members.
- Ability to work in an alternating shift pattern, Monday to Friday, 6am-2pm and 1pm-9pm.
