Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dental Nurse to join our mixed NHS/Private dental practice. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting dentists during patient treatments, ensuring a high standard of patient care and comfort. Duties
- Assist dentists during various dental procedures, ensuring all instruments and materials are prepared and sterilised appropriately
- Provide excellent patient care, including explaining procedures, offering reassurance, and ensuring patient comfort throughout treatments
- Take and develop dental radiographs as required, adhering to safety protocols
- Maintain accurate patient records and update treatment plans using IT systems
- Ensure the cleanliness and organisation of the dental surgery, sterilising equipment and managing stock levels
- Support with administrative tasks such as appointment scheduling, patient correspondence, and maintaining confidentiality
- Uphold health and safety standards within the practice, including infection control procedures
- Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth practice operations
Skills
- Proven experience in patient care within a healthcare or dental setting is desirable
- Good command of English, both written and spoken, to communicate clearly with patients and team members
- Basic IT skills for managing digital records and appointment systems
- Excellent communication skills to reassure patients and work effectively with colleagues
- Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a busy environment
- Knowledge of nursing principles applicable to dental care is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate
- Ability to work as part of a team whilst maintaining a professional approach at all times
