Location: Working across schools, Pupil Referral Units and special schools across Chorley, South Ribble and on rare occasions, the surrounding area.
Hours: 27 hours per week, term time only, during school hours
Contract: Permanent - Part Time - Term-time only
DBS: Enhanced DBS required

Key now supports more than 10,000 people across Lancashire each year.
We’re looking for a compassionate Healthy Relationships Support Worker who is passionate about helping communities and supporting young people to build safer, healthier futures. You’ll work across schools, Pupil Referral Units and specialist schools, co-delivering an educational programme that raises awareness and improves understanding of healthy relationships in families.
This is a term-time only role, working 27 hours per week during school hours, making it a great opportunity for someone looking for meaningful work that fits around school routines.
About the Healthy Relationships Support Worker role
You’ll organise and facilitate group work programmes for children and young people, using a learning and development approach across different age groups. You’ll support young people to recognise healthy, unhealthy and abusive behaviours, build confidence and self-worth, and access a safe environment where they can talk about their own experiences. We’re looking for someone who can build trust, communicate in a way young people can relate to, and create a supportive space where they feel listened to and understood.
You’ll be responsible for:

Organising and facilitating group work programmes for children and young people

Co-delivering educational materials about healthy relationships and the impact of domestic abuse

Assessing needs in relation to safeguarding, risk and safety planning, wellbeing, education, and social and family networks

Empowering children and young people to make informed decisions and take control of their own lives

Building trusted, supportive relationships with children and young people of different ages

Working in partnership with schools, social care, police and other agencies to support safeguarding

Keeping accurate written and electronic records and contributing to reporting for funding agencies
What we’re looking for
You’ll be someone who cares deeply about making a positive difference in local communities, with the confidence and empathy to engage young people in conversations that matter.

Experience supporting children and young people

Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of settings

Knowledge of issues facing vulnerable young people and children with Special Educational Needs

Ability to develop appropriate, supportive relationships with children and young people
-
Understanding of childhood trauma and adverse childhood experiences
-
Ability to work under pressure and use your own initiative to respond quickly to arising issues

Access to a car for work-related journeys
Desirable:
-
An appropriate qualification in teaching, youth and community work, social work, counselling or a related field

Experience delivering educational programmes to children and young people

Experience working in a school setting

Experience of partnership or multi-agency working

Knowledge of assets or strengths-based approaches

Good knowledge of legislation relevant to children and young people

Up to date knowledge of local, regional and national domestic abuse issues

Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
