We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Activity Leader to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in local care homes. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with seniors, particularly those living with dementia, and will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents through creative programming and social interaction. This position requires excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to care.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organise, and implement a variety of activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Facilitate group and individual activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and physical engagement.
- Collaborate with care staff to ensure activities are integrated into each resident's care plan.
- Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all participants during activities.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to encourage participation and gather feedback on activities.
- Document participation levels and outcomes of activities to assess their effectiveness.
- Assist in training volunteers or junior staff members involved in activity programmes.
Requirements
- Must be able to drive and have access to a car.
- Previous experience in senior care or assisted living environments is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with residents who may have dementia or other cognitive impairments.
- A caring attitude towards seniors, demonstrating empathy and patience at all times.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Creativity in developing engaging activities that cater to diverse interests.
- Flexibility to adapt activities based on the needs of residents or changing circumstances.
