Job Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Executive Transport Operations Manager to oversee and optimise our transportation and logistics functions. This pivotal role involves managing complex supply chain processes, supervising teams, and ensuring seamless coordination across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in logistics, warehouse management, and process improvement, with the ability to lead initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and profitability.
Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive transportation strategies aligned with organisational objectives.
- Oversee daily operations of transport services, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with safety standards.
- Manage profit & loss accounts, analysing financial performance to identify optimisation opportunities.
- Supervise logistics teams, including warehouse staff, shipping & receiving personnel, and third-party logistics providers (3PL).
- Utilise transportation management systems (TMS), ERP systems, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and AS400 to monitor operations and generate reports.
- Coordinate with supply chain partners to streamline processes, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
- Lead process improvement initiatives employing continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and company policies across all transport activities.
- Manage forklift operations within warehouse environments, ensuring safety and efficiency standards are maintained.
- Oversee shipping & receiving activities, maintaining accurate inventory records and documentation.
- Drive optimisation projects involving 3PL providers, ERP systems integration, and warehouse management systems upgrades.
Skills
- Proven experience in supervising transport or logistics teams within a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of profit & loss management and financial analysis related to logistics operations.
- Expertise in process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
- Proficiency with transportation management systems (TMS), ERP systems, WMS, AS400, and other relevant software platforms.
- Extensive knowledge of supply chain principles, logistics management, and warehouse operations including shipping & receiving procedures.
- Experience working with 3PL providers to optimise external logistics services.
- Skilled in using forklift equipment safely within warehouse settings; relevant certification is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency.
- Excellent organisational skills with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
