About Us
Stanley Mills Weavers is a specialist weaver of fine mohair fabrics, producing luxurious pure wool, cashmere and mohair worsted suiting.
As part of the SIL Holdings group, we are proud to be one of the few remaining mills in the UK dedicated to this unique craft and tradition.
We are looking for a Winder Bobbin Maker to join our team and support the preparation of yarn for our weaving department.
The Role
This is a hands-on role within our textile manufacturing operation. You will be responsible for winding yarn and producing bobbins to the required standards, ensuring that yarn is prepared accurately and efficiently for the weaving process.
Full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career within the textile industry.
Key Responsibilities
Winding & Bobbin Making
- Set up and operate winding machines to prepare yarn packages.
- Produce selvedge and name-edge bobbins for the weaving department.
- Ensure yarn is wound accurately and to the required specifications.
Quality Control
- Inspect bobbins and yarn for defects.
- Identify and report any tension variations or quality issues.
- Maintain high standards of quality and consistency.
Other Duties
Creeling
- Assist the warping department with loading yarn packages onto creel frames.
Housekeeping
- Clear and remove empty and loaded boxes from the warping department and yarn store.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.

Experience
Previous experience in textile manufacturing or yarn winding is preferred but not essential, as full training will be provided.
