About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Qualified Specialist Occupational Health Nurse to join our Health & Safety team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in promoting a proactive health and wellbeing culture across the organisation.
You will manage a varied caseload, supporting employees and managers through absence management, health assessments, and return-to-work programmes, while delivering expert clinical advice aligned with current legislation and best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of occupational health referrals, providing professional advice to managers and HR.
- Conduct health assessments, health surveillance, and screening (including audiometry, spirometry, and HAVS).
- Produce clear, evidence-based reports with recommendations on fitness for work and rehabilitation plans.
- Provide expert guidance on occupational health legislation, workplace risks, and employee wellbeing.
- Lead the development and implementation of occupational health policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate, confidential medical records in line with GDPR requirements.
- Deliver health promotion initiatives, education, and training across the organisation.
- Contribute to health and safety strategy, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and external specialists including Occupational Health Physicians, HSE, and healthcare providers.
Key Skills & Experience
Proven experience in occupational health within a medium or large organisation.
Strong clinical judgement with the ability to make autonomous decisions.
Experience in case management, health surveillance, and report writing.
Excellent communication skills, able to engage effectively at all levels.
Strong IT skills (MS Word, Excel) and attention to detail.
Ability to build positive working relationships with stakeholders.
Effective time management and organisational skills.
Knowledge of risk assessment principles and current occupational health trends.
Qualifications & Knowledge
Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration.
Post-registration qualification in Occupational Health.
Training and competency in spirometry, audiometry, HAVS, and health surveillance techniques.
Sound knowledge of health & safety legislation and best practice.
Commitment to continuous professional development.
