If you take pride in doing a job properly, enjoy being on the move, and want consistent daytime hours with your evenings and weekends genuinely your own, this role at Eric Lyons was made for you.
About Eric Lyons
Eric Lyons is an award-winning, family-run butcher and fine food retailer with over 120 years of heritage and an uncompromising passion for exceptional quality. Alongside our retail stores, we operate a dedicated production facility at Oakland International in Redditch, near Atwell Farm Park, where our Head Chefs and production team craft the premium food products that supply our growing network of shops every single day.
As our business continues to expand across multiple sites, we are looking for a reliable and hardworking Delivery Driver and Order Picker to join our production team and play a key role in getting our products from the facility to our stores on time and in perfect condition.
The Role
Based at our Redditch production facility, you will work closely alongside Mike, our Operations Manager, Dan Lyons, our Operations Director, our Head Chefs, and our Logistics Manager. Your morning will be spent picking and packing the daily store orders at the facility, before you load up the company delivery van and head out to supply our four retail stores across the region.
You will be the link between our production kitchen and our retail teams. The stores depend on accurate, timely deliveries every morning to open and trade well. That is a role worth being proud of.
You will have full use of a company delivery van provided by Eric Lyons for all of your delivery runs. There is no need for your own vehicle for the role itself.
What Your Day Looks Like
7:00 AM to 8:30 AM - Order Picking and Packing
Your morning starts at the production facility working through the day's store orders alongside the Head Chefs, Operations Manager, and Logistics Manager. You will be picking fresh meat, chilled and ambient products, deli items, and prepared foods against pick lists, checking quantities carefully, packing items correctly, and ensuring everything is labelled, temperature-controlled, and loaded safely and in the right sequence for your route.
Accuracy here is critical. The shops rely on receiving exactly what they ordered, correctly packed and in the right condition. Getting this right first time, every time, is at the heart of the role.
8:30 AM - Out on the Road in the Company Van
Once the van is loaded and your checks are done, you are on your way. Driving the company delivery van, you will make your scheduled runs to our four retail stores, delivering fresh produce directly to the shop teams, offloading crates, and collecting any returns or inter-store transfers. You will be punctual, professional, and a friendly face the store teams are glad to see each morning.
Early Afternoon - Returns, Debrief, and Tomorrow's Prep
Back at the Redditch facility, you will unload return crates, log completed deliveries, flag any issues from the round, and make sure the company van is clean, checked, and ready for the following morning. You will also help set up pick lists and crates so the next day starts without a hitch.
What We Are Looking For
Essential
- Full UK Driving Licence with a clean or near-clean record
- Previous experience in a delivery driving role, ideally multi-drop
- Strong attention to detail when picking and packing orders against a pick list
- Comfortable handling fresh, chilled, and temperature-sensitive food products
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling throughout the morning
- Reliable, punctual, and calm under the pressure of a morning production environment
- A polite and professional manner when liaising with store teams on delivery
- Able to work Monday to Friday with a 7:00 AM start
Desirable
- Experience in a food production, food retail, farm shop, or butchery environment
- Basic knowledge of food safety, allergen controls, and temperature monitoring
- Familiarity with chilled and temperature-controlled delivery requirements
- Good knowledge of the local road network across Redditch, Solihull, and surrounding areas
- Food Safety Level 2 qualification
