Sales Assistant (Maternity Cover)
Location: Hawkshead, Lake District
Hours: 2 days per week (Saturday & Sunday)
Pay: £12.90 per hour
Start date: By 1st July but immediate start available to the right candidate
About Us
We are a family-run handblown glass gallery and gift shop in Hawkshead, showcasing glass art, local makers, and unique, thoughtfully chosen products.
The Role
We are looking for a friendly and reliable Part-Time Sales Assistant to join our team. This role involves working independently for much of the time, so confidence and initiative are important.
You will be responsible for:
- Welcoming and assisting customers
- Operating the till and handling payments
- Maintaining beautiful, inviting displays
- Restocking and keeping the shop organised
- Supporting and promoting local artists and makers
- Opening and closing the shop (full training provided)
Who We’re Looking For
We would love to hear from someone who is:
- Friendly, warm, and confident with customers
- Reliable and comfortable working independently
- Creative, with a good eye for displays and presentation
- Interested in handmade products and small businesses
Retail experience is helpful but not essential — personality and attitude matter most.
Due to limited public transport to Hawkshead, applicants will need to ensure they can reliably travel to and from the shop for their shifts.
Hours & Flexibility
- Saturday & Sunday.
- Additional hours may be available during busy periods or to cover holidays (offered on a voluntary basis)
