Balgove Larder is a bustling Farm Shop, Butchery, Steak Barn & Café located just outside St. Andrews in Fife. We pride ourselves on offering high-quality, homegrown and locally sourced food and providing excellent customer service. Our mission is to celebrate local produce and deliver memorable culinary experiences.
Summary
The Deli Chef position offers an exciting opportunity to craft delicious, seasonally inspired dishes in a vibrant environment.
Our Deli provides food for our café, shop & deli as well as online orders and client orders. As much as is possible, we use food from our Market Garden and meat from our Farm. There is also an opportunity to learn about how to get the best out of homegrown vegetables and herbs in your cooking.
The ideal candidate will bring creativity and their own ideas for dishes and be knowledgeable about current trends in the farm shop world.
There is an opportunity to manage your own time as long as it meets the needs of the business. This would be reviewed periodically.
Hours: 30-45 hours a week but we can be flexible, including weekends
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of deli-style foods using fresh, local ingredients.
- Oversee food production ensuring high standards of quality and safety.
- Manage daily kitchen operations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area.
- Collaborate with team members to develop new menu items.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
- Assist in stock control and inventory management.
- Support the overall customer experience through excellent food
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a chef or cook in a deli or similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards
- Excellent culinary skills with an eye for detail
- Leadership and team management abilities
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Good communication skills
- Passion for local produce and sustainable practices
