Job Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Part-Time Chef to join our friendly team at our care home. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious, quality meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our residents while maintaining the good standards of food hygiene and safety.
This is a part-time position, and the candidate will be required to work alternate weekends as part of the rota.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and cook nutritious and appetising meals for residents.
- Cater for a range of dietary requirements, including allergies, modified diets, and cultural preferences.
- Ensure all food is prepared and presented to a high standard.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment.
- Comply with all Food Hygiene, Health & Safety regulations.
- Monitor food stock levels and assist with ordering supplies as required.
- Minimise food waste and manage kitchen resources efficiently.
- Work closely with the Home Manager and care staff to ensure residents' nutritional needs are met.
- Maintain accurate records relating to food temperatures, cleaning schedules, and food safety checks.
- Support special events and themed meal days within the home.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Chef, Cook, or Kitchen Manager, preferably within a care home, healthcare, or catering environment.
- Knowledge of nutritional requirements for older adults.
- Good understanding of food safety legislation and kitchen management.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, caring, and committed to providing an excellent dining experience for residents.
Pay: £13.00 per hour
