We are particularly interested in candidates with experience working within:
- Children's residential homes
- Residential family assessment units
- Supported accommodation for young people
- Supported living services
- Mental health and complex-needs residential services
You may be supporting children, young people, adults or families depending on the placement and your previous experience.
Responsibilities
- Support children and young people within residential and supported settings.
- Build positive and professional relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Support young people with daily routines, independence, life skills and positive engagement.
- Provide emotional and practical support in line with individual care and support plans.
- Support young people to manage emotions and behaviours in a safe and appropriate way.
- Respond calmly and professionally to challenging situations and incidents.
- Follow individual risk assessments, behaviour support plans and safeguarding procedures.
- Recognise, respond to and report safeguarding concerns appropriately.
- Complete clear, accurate and timely daily records, observations and incident reports.
- Support activities, appointments and community engagement where required.
- Work collaboratively with social workers and other professionals to provide consistent support.
- Help maintain a safe, structured and supportive residential environment.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience within residential social care or a similar support setting.
- Experience supporting children and young people is highly desirable.
- Experience within EBD, challenging behaviour, autism, mental health, complex needs or supported accommodation would be beneficial.
- A good understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence remaining calm and professional during challenging situations.
- Good written communication skills and the ability to maintain accurate records.
- A reliable, flexible and professional approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
Requirements
- Right to work in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS certificate or willingness to obtain one.
- Relevant residential/support work experience.
- Ability to work days, nights and weekends where required.
- Full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential.
