Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dynamic Activities Co-Ordinator to join our team in providing enriching experiences for residents in our care home. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in activates particularly with dementia care, and possess excellent communication skills. As the Activities coordinator, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing engaging activities that enhance the quality of life for our residents.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement a diverse range of activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents in care homes.
- Foster a supportive environment that encourages participation and social interaction among residents.
- Collaborate with care staff to ensure activities are suitable for residents with varying levels of cognitive and physical abilities, particularly those with dementia.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote upcoming events and gather feedback on activities.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of programmes and make necessary adjustments based on resident engagement and satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate records of participation and document any significant observations regarding resident well-being.
- Organise special events, outings, and celebrations that promote community involvement and enhance the overall atmosphere of the facility.
- produce a news letter once a month and post activities on social media sites.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in an Activities coordinator role or similar position within a care home or assisted living environment is preferred.
- Strong understanding of care principles, particularly related to dementia care.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with residents, families, and team members. working on a computer.
- A creative mindset with the ability to develop innovative programmes that cater to diverse interests.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in planning activities and maintaining records.
