Position: Ground Maintenance Operative
Location: Mosaic East, 4th Floor, 17 Addiscombe Road, Croydon, CR0 6SR
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 3+ Months
Working Hours: 35 hours per week
Pay Rate: PAYE: £14.10 per hour
Job Responsibilities:
- Carry out minor internal and external property repairs across residential estates
- Maintain communal areas through cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, litter picking, and dusting
- Clean and maintain refuse chutes, bin stores, and surrounding areas
- Use cleaning equipment and machinery (e.g., jet washers and steam cleaners) for deep cleaning when required
- Complete basic maintenance tasks such as painting, graffiti removal, lock changes, minor joinery, and basic plumbing (e.g., unblocking sinks and toilets)
- Report repairs and defects that require specialist attention and follow up as necessary
- Carry out inspections, tests, and prepare reports when required
- Provide cover for colleagues during periods of absence
- Act as a point of contact for residents, responding to enquiries or referring them to the appropriate team
- Identify and report concerns relating to vulnerable residents
- Follow health and safety procedures and use PPE and equipment safely at all times
- Maintain a professional, courteous, and customer-focused approach when interacting with residents and visitors
Person Specification:
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Good practical maintenance and handyman skills
- Experience carrying out minor building, property, or domestic repairs
- Ability to undertake physically demanding work
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to use a smartphone to access emails and report repairs or health and safety issues
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Experience working within housing, estates, facilities, or property maintenance
- Experience working in a customer-facing environment
- Experience using cleaning machinery and maintenance equipment
