Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient FOH canteen worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, preparing and serving food, and maintaining a clean and organised canteen environment. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic setting, supporting staff and visitors with their catering needs. Previous experience in food service or restaurant settings is advantageous, but a positive attitude and willingness to learn are equally valued. The position is paid and suitable for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment while delivering exceptional service.
Responsibilities
- serve a variety of food items in accordance with health and safety standards
- Greet customers courteously and take their orders efficiently
- Handle cash transactions accurately using the till system
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the canteen area, including food preparation zones and dining spaces
- Ensure food safety protocols are followed at all times
- Upsell additional menu items to maximise sales opportunities
- Manage stock levels and notify management of supply shortages
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks as required
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing enquiries promptly and professionally
- Support the team during busy periods to ensure smooth operations
Experience
- Previous experience in a restaurant, café, or catering environment is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates
- Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures is advantageous
- Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately
- Experience with food preparation or culinary activities is desirable
- Strong time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively during peak hours
- Ability to work well within a team and communicate clearly with colleagues and customers

Pay: £12.71-£14.25 per hour
