Role and Responsibilities
As Mechanic, the person is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the workshop, which includes overseeing the diagnosis, repair, and Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs) for fleet vehicles (heavy-duty and light-duty), along with tracking workshop time for each vehicle. The role also involves managing stock, COSHH storage, cleanliness, and security within the workshop. Additionally, the role plays a key role handling MOT bookings, and providing technical support to teams addressing vehicle or equipment issues.
This role requires a combination of technical expertise, management skills, and effective communication to ensure the efficient, safe, and compliant operation of the workshop.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience as a HGV Fitter/Mechanic
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Proficiency in using various hand and power tools
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, engines, and machinery
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
