About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Lead Brewer to work closely with management in establishing and growing our brewery operation.
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved from day one, helping to develop recipes, shape brewing processes, and influence the future direction of the brewery. We are looking for someone who combines strong technical brewing knowledge with a practical, hands-on approach and a genuine enthusiasm for creating exceptional beer.
As part of a small team, you'll need to be willing to get involved wherever required and play an active role in the wider success of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage all aspects of the brewing process from raw materials through to finished beer
- Develop, trial and refine new beer recipes
- Maintain accurate brewing, production, quality control and traceability records
- Monitor fermentation, conditioning and beer storage to ensure product quality and consistency
- Maintain health and safety, cleaning and production records in line with company procedures
- Manage ingredient handling and brewery hygiene to the highest standards
- Carry out routine quality control checks
- Manage and oversee packaging operations, including kegging and any future packaging developments
- Support stock management of raw materials, ingredients and consumables
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of brewery processes, efficiency and quality standards
- Help maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment
Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum of 3 years brewing experience, ideally within an independent brewery or production environment
- Strong practical brewing knowledge with the ability to work independently
- Proven experience of recipe development and beer production
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Strong organisational skills and accurate record keeping
- Ability to manage workloads and prioritise tasks effectively
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem solving
- A willingness to contribute across all areas of the business as part of a small team
- Ability to undertake the physical aspects of brewery work, including manual handling, moving raw materials, working on your feet for extended periods, and safely operating brewery equipment
Desirable
- Brewing qualifications. We value practical experience and are committed to supporting ongoing professional development and qualifications
- Experience brewing a wide range of beer styles, including lager production
- Kegging, packaging and cellar management experience
- Knowledge of brewery quality control processes and microbiological best practice
- Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain one)
