Trauma-Informed Children’s Residential Home

We are looking for caring, resilient and dependable. Residential Child Care Workers to join our trauma-informed children’s residential home. We support children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) who have experienced trauma, disruption, loss and other adverse childhood experiences.

About the Role
As a Residential Child Care Worker, you will work as part of the care team to provide high-quality, trauma-informed care and support. You will build positive and professional relationships with the children and young people in our care while maintaining appropriate boundaries and providing consistent, compassionate support.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting children and young people with their day-to-day needs.
- Building safe, trusting and positive relationships.
- Understanding behaviour as a form of communication and responding using trauma-informed approaches.
- Supporting children to manage their emotions and develop positive coping strategies.
- Promoting independence, confidence and life skills.
- Supporting children with education, activities, appointments and community engagement.
- Following individual care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support strategies.
- Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people at all times.
- Managing challenging situations calmly, professionally and safely.
- Completing accurate daily records, incident reports, observations and other required documentation.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, families and other professionals.
- Maintaining a safe, welcoming and nurturing home environment.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- NVQ Level 3 / Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (Children and Young People), or a relevant equivalent qualification; OR
- At least two years’ experience working in a Residential Child Care Worker role.
- A good understanding of safeguarding children and young people.
- The ability to work effectively with children who may display behaviours associated with trauma and EBD.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- A good standard of written English and written communication skills, as the role requires accurate completion of care records, reports, incident documentation and other professional records.
- The ability to remain calm and professional during challenging situations.
- Reliability, flexibility and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Sleep-in Shift:
- 14:00–00:00
- Sleep-in
- 07:00–15:00 (following day)
Late Shifts:
Morning Shifts:
- 08:00–16:00
- 09:00–17:00
- 10:00–18:00

Pay: £13.50-£15.00 per hour
