The Great House Restaurant & Hotel is looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our small kitchen team.
This is more than a traditional kitchen porter position. You’ll work alongside an experienced chef, helping with food preparation, kitchen organisation and service support, while also helping to keep the kitchen clean and running smoothly.
The Role
You’ll help with:
- Basic food preparation and mise en place
- Vegetable and garnish preparation
- Portioning, labelling and dating food
- Weekly kitchen prep
- Supporting the chef during busy periods
- Keeping fridges, storage and preparation areas organised
- Washing up and maintaining excellent kitchen cleanliness
- Following food hygiene, allergen and cleaning procedures
- Supporting weddings and private events when required
Hours & Working Pattern
- 25 hours per week guaranteed
- The normal working pattern will be mainly Wednesday to Sunday.
- There will also be opportunities for additional paid hours during busy periods, weddings, private events and holiday cover.
About You
- Previous kitchen experience would be helpful, but is not essential.
