We are seeking to appoint a part-time Programme Area Manager (0.2) to work alongside the existing manager (0.4), to manage Belgrave ESOL provision, for academic year 2026-27. You will jointly lead the Programme Area, ensuring that teaching and learning is of the highest standard and all key targets in relation to recruitment, retention, quality assurance, achievement, student destinations, curriculum planning, curriculum development and funding are met.
The post holder will have strong leadership skills, a substantial knowledge of the ESOL sector and experience of designing and managing ESOL and ESOL and Vocational Skills programmes for adult students.
Responsibilities include the direct line management of delivery staff including Programme Leads, Lecturers and Variable Hours Lecturers, leading on curriculum planning, timetabling, safeguarding, health and safety, and the implementation of quality assurance processes within the programme area. As an integral member of the management team, you will ensure all learners receive an outstanding learning experience that supports their individual goals and aspirations.
The role requires effective liaison with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including the DWP, community organisations, employers and awarding bodies, to develop partnerships that enhance learner outcomes.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to improving learning, teaching and assessment, together with a proven track record of effective performance management, quality improvement and curriculum development.
Substantial knowledge of the ESOL sector, including current curriculum developments, funding requirements, quality assurance processes and learner progression pathways, is essential. You will have the ability to plan and develop an inclusive, responsive curriculum that meets the needs of learners and local employers.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent, hold a recognised teaching qualification, and have extensive experience of leading or delivering ESOL provision. A sound understanding of quality assurance, performance management and data management is essential, together with the ability to use data to inform decision-making and improve learner outcomes.
