Harrington Builders PLC is looking for a hardworking, reliable and motivated Concrete Formwork & Plant Yardman to join our expanding operations at our Iver depot which is under construction, Harringtons Builders PLC is celebrating it's 60th year anniversary in 2026. The continued requires an expansion of staff.
This is a varied, hands-on role supporting the day-to-day running of the yard. You will be responsible for preparing concrete formwork, plant, tools and equipment for our construction projects across London, the South East and across the UK, ensuring everything leaves the yard in a safe, clean and serviceable condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and issue concrete formwork systems and accessories for site deliveries.
- Clean, inspect and repair returned formwork equipment.
- Prepare plant, tools and equipment ready for hire or internal use.
- Carry out pre-delivery inspections to ensure equipment is clean, complete and operational.
- Load and unload delivery vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Organise, stack and store formwork, plant and equipment within the yard.
- Pick orders accurately from delivery notes and loading schedules.
- Assist with the mobilisation and demobilisation of construction sites.
- Carry out routine inspections of tools, lifting accessories and small plant.
- Report damaged, defective or missing equipment.
- Assist with stock control, asset management and regular stock takes.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout the yard.
- Operate forklifts and other yard machinery where authorised.
- Liaise with the Plant, Transport and Workshop teams to ensure deliveries and collections run smoothly.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company Health & Safety procedures.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working within a construction yard, plant yard, builders' merchant or similar environment.
- Good understanding of construction plant, tools and equipment.
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work using your own initiative.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
- Experience with PERI, Huennebeck, RMD Kwikform or similar formwork systems.
- Counterbalance Forklift Licence.
- Telehandler Licence.
- CSCS Card.
- Experience preparing plant and equipment for site use.
- Basic mechanical knowledge or experience carrying out minor repairs.
