Role Description The Senior Mechanical Technician (Drilling Equipment Specialist) is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Aberdeen Area. This role is responsible for the mechanical maintenance, repair, inspection, and overhaul of drilling equipment and associated systems, ensuring equipment reliability and compliance with safety and quality standards. The technician will perform diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical issues, carry out preventive and corrective maintenance, and support recertification activities for drilling, marine, and renewable assets. Daily tasks include interpreting technical drawings and maintenance manuals, preparing service reports, collaborating with engineering and project teams, and supporting on-site and occasional offshore deployments as required. The role also involves mentoring junior technicians, maintaining tooling and workshop readiness, and contributing to continuous improvement of maintenance practices.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical Equipment Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair skills for drilling and heavy industrial equipment.
- Experience in Preventive Maintenance planning and execution to ensure safe and reliable operations.
- Proven Troubleshooting abilities for complex mechanical faults and system issues.
- Knowledge of general Maintenance practices, including documentation, use of tools, and adherence to safety standards.
- Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Hands-on experience with drilling equipment or similar rotating and lifting systems in marine, offshore, or energy sectors.
- Familiarity with industry regulations, quality control procedures, and safety management systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, OEM manuals, and maintenance schedules.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Willingness to work in demanding environments, including onshore sites and potential offshore assignments.
- Desired: 5+ years' experience in drilling equipment, maintenance/repair, strong technical skills.
Pay: £35,000.00-£49,000.00 per year
