About the role
Due to continued growth and an exciting pipeline of new projects, Balfour Beatty Power T&D is looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding Commercial team.
This is an opportunity to be part of some of the UK's most significant energy infrastructure projects, helping to deliver the networks that connect communities, support renewable energy and power the future.
You'll work closely with senior commercial professionals while taking ownership of key commercial activities across the project lifecycle. From procurement and supply chain management to cost control and stakeholder engagement, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our projects are delivered safely, efficiently and profitably.

What you'll be doing
As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll support the commercial success of major infrastructure projects by:
- Managing project costs and identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
- Procuring and managing supply chain partners and subcontractors.
- Measuring, recording and valuing work in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Preparing cost reconciliations, forecasts and commercial reports.
- Reviewing project programmes and aligning commercial activities to delivery plans.
- Supporting customer and stakeholder relationships across your area of responsibility.
- Managing subcontractor valuations, payments and final accounts.
- Collating and analysing cost and value information to support decision-making.
- Supporting effective commercial governance and compliance processes.
- Contributing to the development and mentoring of junior commercial team members.
- Continuing your professional development and progressing towards chartership, where applicable.

Essential
- BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent experience).
- Previous commercial experience within construction, utilities, infrastructure or engineering.
- Strong numerical, analytical and commercial skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to work independently whilst contributing positively to a wider team.
Desirable
- Progress towards, or membership of, RICS, ICES or CIOB.
- Experience working within infrastructure, utilities, power or civil engineering sectors.
- Understanding of NEC contracts.
- Strong focus on delivering results and continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of the wider infrastructure and utilities market.
