Conveyancing Legal Assistant – Malmesbury
T Brown Recruitment is delighted to be working with a well-established and highly regarded law firm seeking a friendly, organised and proactive Conveyancing Legal Assistant to join its supportive Residential Property team in Malmesbury.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Conveyancing Legal Assistant, Conveyancing Assistant, Legal Secretary or Legal Administrator with a good working knowledge of residential property to join a friendly team that values collaboration, client care and work-life balance.
The Role
Working alongside experienced fee earners, you will provide comprehensive legal and administrative support throughout the residential conveyancing process.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the preparation of contracts, leases and other residential property documentation
- Using case management systems and a variety of digital systems and web-based portals
- Drafting routine correspondence and standard legal documents
- Maintaining and updating case files accurately and efficiently
- Liaising with Accounts to arrange money transfers
- Preparing risk and compliance documentation and ensuring required checks are completed
- Liaising with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders and other solicitors
- Handling telephone enquiries and assisting clients both in person and by telephone
- Making appointments and responding to client queries
- Accurate typing and preparation/amendment of draft documentation
- Opening files, sending initial correspondence and assisting with quotes
- Preparing completed files for storage and maintaining accurate filing systems
- Progressing files and assisting with matters in the fee earner's absence, with appropriate support
- Providing general administrative and clerical support to the department
- Providing reception cover during periods of holiday or sickness when required
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience within residential conveyancing
- Experience working as a Conveyancing Legal Assistant, Conveyancing Assistant, Legal Secretary or similar
- A good understanding of the residential property process
- Strong document production and administrative skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Confident communication skills, both written and verbal
- The ability to communicate professionally with clients and external stakeholders
- Experience using case management systems and online legal/property portals
- The ability to work independently whilst also contributing positively to a team
- A proactive and practical approach to progressing matters
