We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated pharmacist to join our team on an 12-month fixed-term contract.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our specialist Cancer Services team and support high-quality pharmacy services across the Trust. You will work alongside pharmacists, technicians, doctors, nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to optimise medicines and ensure patients receive safe, effective and timely treatment.
You will provide specialist clinical pharmacy support to patients receiving chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer therapies, including clinical screening and final checking of chemotherapy prescriptions, supporting oral/parenteral chemotherapy services and providing specialist pharmaceutical advice.
The role offers excellent opportunities to develop your expertise in haemato-oncology, chemotherapy, medicines optimisation, clinical governance, education, service development and research. You will contribute to MDT meetings, treatment protocols, clinical trials, audit and quality improvement, while supporting the education and development of colleagues.
You will also work closely with the Lead Pharmacist to develop Cancer Services pharmacy and identify opportunities for improvement.

Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing specialist clinical pharmacy support to haematology day units, outpatient clinics and wards.
- Undertaking clinical screening and final checking of chemotherapy prescriptions, including oral and parenteral chemotherapy.
- Working with the multidisciplinary team to optimise the safe and effective use of chemotherapy and systemic anti-cancer therapies.
- Supporting chemotherapy and biological agent ordering and timely delivery.
- Contributing to haematology MDT meetings and providing specialist pharmaceutical advice.
- Supporting chemotherapy protocols, treatment guidelines and clinical pathways.
- Supporting pharmacy staff training and chemotherapy competency.
- Contributing to haemato-oncology education, Cancer Clinical Trials, audit, research, quality improvement and service development.
- Supporting SACT data submission and monitoring cancer drug expenditure.
- Supporting NICE recommendations, formularies and prescribing policies.
- Identifying and helping to mitigate medicines-related risks.
- Deputising for the Principal Pharmacist, Cancer Services when required.
- Helping to develop a patient-centred, evidence-based Cancer Services pharmacy across both sites.
