About the Role
As a Residential Care Worker, you will play a vital role in creating a warm, safe, and nurturing home environment where children and young people can grow emotionally, socially, and independently.
You will support young people through both the everyday moments and the more challenging times - celebrating achievements, building trust, encouraging positive choices, and helping them develop the confidence and life skills they need for the future.

Key Responsibilities
- Build strong, positive, and trusting relationships with children and young people
- Provide day-to-day care, emotional support, and guidance in line with individual care plans
- Support young people with daily living skills including cooking, shopping, cleaning, laundry, and personal development
- Act as a Key Worker and contribute to care planning, reviews, and positive outcomes
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times
- Recognise, respond to, and report safeguarding concerns appropriately
- Use restorative approaches to encourage positive behaviour and healthy relationships
- Encourage young people to express their views, wishes, and feelings
- Work closely with families, social workers, education providers, and other professionals
- Maintain accurate records and uphold confidentiality standards
- Contribute to a supportive, positive, and professional team culture
- Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and well-presented home environment

Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- Flexibility to work a 2 on / 4 off shift pattern including sleep-ins
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Experience working with children and young people in a residential setting is desirable but not essential for candidates with the right values, attitude, and willingness to learn.
Qualifications
In line with Regulation 32 of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, successful candidates must hold or be willing to work towards the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare within the required timeframe.

Working Pattern
This role operates on a 2 on / 4 off rota pattern and includes:
- Sleep-ins
- Evenings
- Weekends
- Bank holidays
Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the service and the young people in our care.
Additional Information
- All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references
- Successful applicants will complete a six-month probationary period
