Senior Care Assistant | £13.85ph | Full & Part-Time
- Danygraig, Bridgend Road, Porthcawl, CF36 5SR
- £13.85 per hour | Permanent
- 36-hour and 24-hour opportunities available
Love care, know your stuff and ready for a Senior role?
We're looking for experienced Senior Care Assistants to join our lovely team at Danygraig – and we're looking for people who bring the right mix of experience, confidence and genuine warmth to the role.
As a Senior, you'll still be right there alongside the team providing hands-on care, getting to know our residents and making a difference to their everyday lives. But you'll also take on those important extra responsibilities administering medication, supporting care planning, completing electronic care records and helping guide the care team throughout the shift.
So yes, we need someone who knows their meds, care plans and documentation but we're equally interested in how you are with people.
We're looking for someone approachable, dependable and positive. Someone residents feel comfortable around, colleagues can turn to for support and who understands that being a great Senior is about much more than having "Senior" in your job title.
Already a Senior and fancy a change? Brilliant. An experienced carer with the right skills who's ready for that next step? We'd love to hear from you too.
A Little About Danygraig
Danygraig is a beautiful Grade II listed home set in 2.5 acres of landscaped gardens, with lovely views across the Bristol Channel and surrounding parkland.
The home has 48 bedrooms across four units and provides residential and respite care for people living with mental health conditions, including dementia.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Senior Care Assistant, you'll combine hands-on care with additional responsibility for helping the shift run smoothly and ensuring residents receive safe, consistent and genuinely person-centred support.
You'll be:
- Providing hands-on care and support to residents
- Administering medication safely and accurately
- Completing medication records and associated documentation
- Contributing to, updating and reviewing individual care plans
- Recording resident notes and care information using electronic care systems
- Supporting and guiding Care Assistants throughout the shift
- Helping organise and prioritise care around residents' individual needs
- Recognising changes in a resident's health, behaviour or wellbeing and taking appropriate action
- Communicating important information clearly with colleagues and the wider care team
- Supporting residents to maintain their independence, choices and personal outcomes
- Promoting dignity, privacy and respect at all times
- Following safeguarding, infection control, medication and other relevant care procedures
- Helping maintain high standards of care throughout the home
What We're Looking For
This is a Senior role, so previous care experience is essential.
We're looking for someone who has the practical experience and confidence to take on additional responsibility while still being compassionate, approachable and very much part of the hands-on care team.
You'll need:
- NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health & Social Care, or an equivalent relevant Level 3 qualification
- Previous paid experience working within health or social care
- Practical experience administering medication
- Experience contributing to, updating or reviewing care plans
- Experience using electronic care systems for resident notes and care records
- A good understanding of person-centred care
- Confidence supporting and guiding other members of the care team
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to stay calm, organised and prioritise during a busy shift
- A good understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, dignity and professional boundaries
- A reliable, positive and compassionate approach
Experience supporting people living with mental health conditions or dementia would be particularly welcomed.
Above all, we're looking for someone who understands that being a great Senior isn't just about medication, paperwork or leading a shift. It's about setting the standard for the care residents receive and being someone both residents and colleagues can rely on.
Hours & Contract
We have permanent opportunities available for:
24 hours per week
36 hours per week
You'll work 12-hour shifts as part of the home's rolling rota, including weekend working.

Please let us know when applying whether you're interested in 24 hours, 36 hours or would happily consider either.

- Long Service Awards
- Annual Company Awards Programme
- A friendly and supportive team around you
