An opportunity has arisen for an experienced and registered Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly, hard working and well established Medicine Management pharmacy team at Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust.
As an MMT, you will be responsible for providing a safe, efficient and accurate ward based service for virtual ward and hospital in-patients including medicines reconciliation, patient counselling and ensuring safe and timely discharges.
Undertake further education and training to advance the role of Pharmacy Technicians within the department.
Support the work of the main dispensary in the provision of an extended hour’s service.
Will be expected to expand and broaden their skills and abilities.
Please note that this role includes cross site working, therefore ability to commute between sites is essential.
A technician is required to support the Ward Based team in our very busy pharmacy department. This challenging position combines the duties of ward work both for in-patients and virtual ward patients within our Community services team.
You must be able to prioritise and manage your own workload to provide a Medicines Management Service to both in-patients on the wards and those cared for by our Virtual Wards within community services.
Co-ordinate with other sections and members of the multi-disciplinary teams.
Participate in completion of Safe and Secure Handling of Medication (SASHM) and Controlled Drug audits.
To support with the supervision and training of assistants and students.
All applicants must have proven experience and ability of delivering pharmaceutical services within a pharmacy environment. Total flexibility of working hours is a necessity. Applications from community pharmacy technicians with the relevant qualifications may be considered as full training and support will be given.
Qualifications required are NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services, BTEC (Pharmaceutical Science), Level 3 Diploma in The Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians or equivalent, and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
The applicant will be expected to be, or be working towards being, an ACT to routinely final accuracy check individually dispensed items for inpatients, discharges and controlled drugs within both the dispensary and ward environments.
