Risby CEVA Primary School is looking for a Learning Support Assistant, Responsible to: Class Teacher/Headteacher.
Job Purpose
To work under the direction of the Class Teacher and SENDCo to provide dedicated 1-to-1 support for a pupil in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The Learning Support Assistant will support the pupil’s learning, personal development, communication, independence and wellbeing, enabling them to access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.
You will contribute to a nurturing, inclusive and stimulating learning environment and work collaboratively with staff, parents and external professionals to implement strategies and provision identified within the pupil’s EHCP.
Supporting Learning:
support high-quality teaching and learning across the primary curriculum
prepare, maintain and adapt learning environments that are stimulating, inclusive and accessible
support learning through a range of approaches including direct teaching, practical activities, enquiry, play-based learning and continuous provision where appropriate
promote independence, resilience, creativity, curiosity and problem-solving
Use effective questioning, modelling and feedback to extend learning and language development
support pupils to access learning through adaptive strategies and resources.
EYFS and Continuous Provision:
support the planning, organisation and enhancement of indoor and outdoor continuous provision within EYFS
facilitate learning through child-initiated and adult-guided activities
promote high-quality interactions and sustained shared thinking to extend children's learning and development
contribute to a language-rich environment that supports communication and early literacy.
Assessment and Pupil Development:
observe, monitor and record pupil engagement, progress and wellbeing
contribute to the marking and feedback of pupil’s work
contribute to assessment processes and provide feedback to teachers
support the identification of barriers to learning and emerging additional needs
maintain accurate records and contribute to reviews of interventions and support programmes.
Inclusion and SEND:
support pupils with a range of SEND needs
implement strategies identified through support plans and EHCPs
promote equality, participation and a sense of belonging for all pupils
encourage pupils to develop independence, confidence and self-regulation.
Partnership and Professional Responsibilities:
work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents and external professionals
carry out duties such as break duties and lunch time supervision as required
safeguard and promote the welfare of children at all times
participate in training, appraisal and professional development activities.

Person Specification
Essential: GCSE English and Mathematics (or equivalent); experience working with children or young people; understanding of safeguarding, inclusion, child development and behaviour support; strong communication, teamwork, organisation and ICT skills.
Desirable: Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Early Years Education, Childcare or a related field; experience in EYFS, continuous provision, Nursery Key Worker, Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant roles; SEND-related training and first aid.
