Job Purpose
To operate press machinery safely and efficiently in the manufacture of high-quality windows and doors, ensuring all components are accurately pressed, assembled and finished to the required company standards and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate window and door press machinery safely and efficiently.
- Set up presses and tooling according to production drawings and job specifications.
- Accurately position components before pressing.
- Check dimensions, alignment and quality throughout the production process.
- Ensure pressed joints and components meet required strength and quality standards.
- Read and follow manufacturing drawings, cutting lists and production instructions.
- Carry out routine checks and basic adjustments to machinery.
- Identify and report defective materials, incorrect components or machine problems.
- Maintain accurate production records where required.
- Keep the work area clean, organised and free from hazards.
- Handle timber and other window and door components safely.
- Work closely with other members of the production team to maintain workflow and meet production targets.
- Minimise material waste and report recurring production issues.
- Carry out quality-control checks before components move to the next stage of production.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures and wear the required PPE.
- Report machinery faults, damage or maintenance requirements immediately.
- Assist with other reasonable manufacturing duties when required.
Health & Safety
The Press Operator is responsible for operating machinery in accordance with company procedures and must:
- Never operate machinery without the appropriate training.
- Use guards and safety equipment correctly.
- Follow lock-out/isolation procedures when required.
- Wear appropriate PPE.
- Keep hands and clothing clear of moving machinery.
- Report accidents, near misses and unsafe conditions immediately.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Experience working in a manufacturing or factory environment.
- Good understanding of machinery and production processes.
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to follow technical drawings and measurements.
- Ability to work accurately under production deadlines.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety.
- Reliable and organised approach to work.
Desirable:
- Previous experience operating window and door presses.
- Experience within the window, door, joinery or construction-products industry.
- Experience working with timber windows and doors.
- Mechanical or manufacturing experience.
- Forklift or other relevant machinery qualifications.

Pay: £12.71-£14.50 per hour
