SEND Teaching Assistant – SEMH
SENDSTAFF is currently recruiting a dedicated and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a specialist school based in Erdington.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people who require additional support to achieve their full potential.
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support pupils with SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small group basis.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
- Help manage behaviour using positive behaviour strategies.
- Work alongside teachers and other professionals to deliver engaging learning activities.
- Encourage emotional regulation, independence and confidence.
- Support pupils both inside and outside of the classroom.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviour.
- A calm, patient and resilient approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- DBS on the update service
Desirable:
- Team Teach or other positive behaviour management training.
- Experience within a specialist school, PRU or alternative provision.
- Relevant Teaching Assistant or childcare qualifications.
