As part of the SHS Food Finance team, you'll play a key role in supporting accurate financial reporting, forecasting and financial controls across a diverse portfolio of food brands and manufacturing sites. You'll gain hands-on experience in month-end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations and financial analysis, helping the business understand performance and make informed decisions.
Based at our SHS Head Office in Belfast, you'll work closely with colleagues across Finance and the wider business, developing a strong understanding of commercial and operational processes within a multi-site food manufacturing environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the early stages of their finance career who is looking to develop their technical skills, broaden their experience and build a strong foundation for future progression.
Management Accounts & Control

Support the preparation of month-end accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments and reporting schedules.

Prepare profit and loss analysis, investigate variances and support the explanation of key performance drivers.

Prepare balance sheet reconciliations to an audit-ready standard, investigating aged or unusual items and working with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely resolution.

Support the management and reconciliation of fixed assets, inventory and intercompany balances.
Planning & Business Support

Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, cash flow and working capital reporting, including analysing movements against plan and following up on key assumptions.

Translate financial data into clear commentary and actionable insights, helping finance and operational teams understand variances, risks and opportunities.
Audit & Continuous Improvement

Essential

Studying towards, or interested in studying towards, an AAT, ACCA or CIMA qualification. Equivalent finance experience will also be considered.

Previous finance experience, with an understanding of journals, reconciliations and month-end processes.

Good Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.

Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

Organised and dependable, with the ability to manage deadlines and priorities effectively.

Good communication skills, with the confidence to work collaboratively with finance and operational colleagues.

A proactive approach, with a willingness to ask questions, take ownership and continuously learn.
Desirable

Experience using SAP, Sage or a similar ERP system.

Exposure to Power Query, Power BI or finance process automation tools.

Previous experience within a manufacturing, FMCG or multi-site business environment.
