What we are looking for?
This is far more than a traditional reception role. Our Reception Team is at the heart of the Academy, providing a welcoming and professional service whilst supporting the day-to-day running of a school with over 2,000 students across two sites.
No two days are the same. You will be the first point of contact for students, parents, visitors and external agencies, often managing multiple enquiries at once whilst ensuring everyone receives a friendly, professional and efficient service. You'll be supporting staff and students, answering telephone calls, dealing with visitors, managing administrative tasks and helping to keep the Academy running smoothly.
The role also includes providing first aid to students and staff, often reassuring young people who may be anxious or unwell. You will need to remain calm, compassionate and confident in challenging situations. Full First Aid training will be provided if required.
Working in a large secondary school means every day is different. The ability to think on your feet, prioritise effectively and remain composed in a fast-paced environment is essential.
The main responsibilities of the post holder will be:
-
Acting as the first point of contact for students, parents, visitors and external agencies.
- Operating the Academy switchboard and responding to enquiries professionally and efficiently.
- Providing high-quality administrative support across the Academy.
- Delivering first aid to students and staff and maintaining accurate medical records.
- Supporting the smooth day-to-day operation of reception across both Academy sites.
About you
This role would suit someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service whilst supporting the wellbeing of young people.
Previous experience in a school is not essential. We welcome applications from individuals with experience in busy customer-facing environments such as healthcare, hospitality, retail, local government or office administration who have excellent organisational skills, enjoy working with people and are looking for a rewarding career.
The successful candidate will have:
-
Excellent ICT skills and confidence using a range of computer systems, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn new software quickly.
- Outstanding organisational and administrative skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- The ability to multitask, prioritise workloads and work accurately under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and professional approach.
- A calm, empathetic and reassuring manner when dealing with students, parents and visitors.
- The confidence to use initiative and solve problems.
- A flexible, positive attitude and willingness to support colleagues across the wider administration team.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
