Overview
The Gateway Café & Bar is looking for a positive, hard-working Kitchen Porter to join our friendly, welcoming team. We’re a lively, popular venue at the heart of the Cotswold Lakes, serving guests seven days a week in a busy, fast-paced environment.
If you enjoy being part of a team, take pride in keeping things running smoothly, and don’t mind rolling up your sleeves, this could be the perfect role for you. Most shifts are during the day, with occasional evening shifts for events.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the chefs with basic food preparation tasks, ensuring ingredients and equipment are ready when needed.
- Keep the kitchen spotless by washing dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and maintaining overall cleanliness.
- Clean, organise, and safely store all kitchen equipment after use.
- Manage waste and recycling responsibly, following all health and safety procedures.
- Provide essential assistance during peak service times to help the kitchen run efficiently.
- Maintain excellent food safety and hygiene standards at all times.
- Help receive and organise deliveries, ensuring stock is stored correctly and promptly.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in a restaurant, café, hotel, or similar setting is helpful, though not essential.
- A team player with a great attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions confidently.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work quickly and efficiently.
- Calm under pressure, even during our busiest service times.
- A genuine interest in hospitality and a pride in supporting great food.
