Job Summary
Join our veterinary team as a Veterinary Care Assistant / Animal Care Assistant, ideally experienced VCA/ACA qualified.
Enthusiasm, compassion and hard working member of the team. Your role will support veterinary professionals by providing high-quality animal care, assisting with clinical procedures, and ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment for in patients.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinary staff with daily animal handling, feeding, cleaning, and monitoring to ensure their comfort and well-being
- Support clinical procedures such as administering medications, preparing animals for examinations, and assisting during surgeries or treatments
- Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of surgical instruments, kennels, treatment areas, and equipment to uphold hygiene standards.
- Record detailed notes on animal behavior, treatment progress, and laboratory results to support accurate medical documentation
- Conduct laboratory tasks including processing tests, and managing laboratory supplies to aid diagnostics
- Monitor animals post-procedure or during recovery periods, providing attentive care and reporting any concerns promptly
- Help manage inventory of medical supplies and ensure proper storage of medications and laboratory materials
Skills
- Previous veterinary experience or animal care background is highly desirable for understanding clinical environments
- Laboratory experience is a strong advantage for supporting diagnostic testing and sample handling
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with veterinary teams and communicate with pet owners when needed
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine love for animals and dedication to their health
- Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately while maintaining attention to detail in record keeping and lab tasks
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently in a fast-paced setting
