We are a well-established family-run business operating both a busy hardware and building supplies outlet and a private residential construction division specialising in one-off new build homes.
We are seeking a motivated, organised, and customer-focused individual to join our team. This is a varied role that combines customer sales, yard operations, stock management, purchasing, and supplier liaison. The successful candidate will become an important part of our day-to-day operations and help ensure the smooth running of both the hardware and building sides of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Serving and assisting trade and domestic customers.
- Processing sales and handling customer enquiries.
- Managing stock levels within the hardware shop and yard.
- Purchasing hardware products, building materials, and construction supplies.
- Sourcing materials for private new build housing projects.
- Developing and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
- Receiving and checking deliveries.
- Assisting customers with loading and collections.
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe yard and retail environment.
- Supporting the wider team with day-to-day business operations.
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience in hardware, builders’ merchants, construction supplies, or a similar industry.
- Good knowledge of building materials, tools, and hardware products.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Comfortable dealing with customers, tradespeople, and suppliers.
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Positive attitude and willingness to be part of a small, hardworking team.
- Forklift licence desirable but not essential.
