Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Driver to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting materials, tools, and equipment to and from construction sites while supporting general site operations as required.
The role involves driving a range of vehicles, including tipper trucks, long wheelbase vans, and vehicles towing trailers. A strong commitment to safety, professionalism, and teamwork is essential.
Duties
- Safely operate a commercial van to deliver packages, supplies, or equipment across designated routes
- Plan delivery schedules and optimize routes for efficiency and punctuality
- Load and unload material, often involving heavy lifting, ensuring items are secured properly for transit
- Communicate clearly with team members to confirm delivery details and resolve issues promptly
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after shifts to maintain safety standards
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, documentation, and reports of completed deliveries
- Follow all traffic laws and company policies to ensure safety for yourself and others on the road
Skills
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or van driver with a strong understanding of commercial driving practices
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record
- Good local road knowledge
- Forklift Licence would be preferred but not essential.
- A good understanding of the construction materials and plant would be helpful
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks regularly
- Strong communication skills to interact professionally with suppliers and team members
- Warehouse experience is a plus, especially familiarity with loading/unloading procedures
- Ability to plan routes effectively and adapt quickly to changing schedules or traffic conditions
- Knowledge of safety regulations related to commercial driving and transportation
Pay: £13.00-£16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 42.5 per week
