Ourway Care is looking for a dedicated Support Worker to join our team supporting a gentleman with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) in the Gunnislake area. He lives at home with his family and their friendly pet dogs and is looking for someone who can provide person-centred support while helping him work towards his rehabilitation goals.
You will be supporting him with all aspects of his daily living, including personal care, mobility and household tasks as well as working alongside therapists and implementing his rehabilitation programme, including hydrotherapy sessions.
Our client has a passion for an active lifestyle and all things sport, particularly playing and watching rugby. He also enjoys training for endurance challenges, including triathlons and other sporting events, so someone who enjoys an active lifestyle and can encourage and support him in pursuing these goals would be a great fit. When he's not training, he enjoys getting out and about, creating adventures, finding good coffee and cake, cooking, gardening, model building and sharing his devilish sense of humour.

Roles Available:

Part Time: 13 hours / 1 shift per week every Thursday

Additional hours available for respite every 6 weeks, as well as holiday and sickness cover for other team members
Shift Patterns:

Tuesday: 07:00-21:00

Wednesday, Friday & Saturday: 08:30-18:30

Thursday: 08:30-21:30
-
Respite hours: 08:00-20:00 and 20:00-08:00 (waking night)
- Bank Holidays and weekend work form part of the rota
Pay Rates:
- £15.00 per hour weekday day rate
- £16.00 per hour weekday waking night

£17.00 per hour weekend waking night

Double time for Bank Holidays

£1.00 per hour less during probationary period
Role Responsibilities:

Person Specification
Essential:

Over 25 with a full driving licence and confident to drive the clients vehicle

Fit and active

Positive attitude with a vibrant personality

Previous care experience

Happy to work in a clients home with several dogs

Experience in complex community care is desirable

Internal and Management: This role will report to the Registered Manager
Key Duties/Responsibilities of our Support Worker:
Supporting your client to safely lead a fulfilling and more independent life by:

Provide practical support for your client and their family, such as helping with personal care, household tasks and paperwork

Assist and encourage your client to engage in everyday home, social, leisure and work activities, according to the individual's choice

Support and monitor your client's healthcare needs, including administering medication and other clinical tasks

Help your clients to access community facilities and be included in community groups, if they so wish

Understand their communication needs and adapt your own communication style accordingly

Keep accurate, up to date records of all the care you provide

Work positively with other professionals, such as doctors and therapists, to ensure consistency of support

Maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times

Participate in learning and development opportunities as required
