Part -Time Travel Trainer - Stockport
- Core hours: 20 hours per week Monday to Friday to include 07:30 – 09:30 & 14:30 – 16:30 as core hours.
- Contract - Permanent
- Location - Stockport (but some travel within Greater Manchester will be required)
- Salary - £14,021 per annum (FTE £24,538)
Main purpose of the Job:
To work with young people, on a 1:1 basis, with the outcome of helping them develop the skills to eventually be able to travel independently and safely using public transport. Also to assist in the development and delivery of group training sessions in school and college settings.
Key Areas of responsibility
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. To deliver travel training plans to young people on journeys to/from school/college in real-time (usually morning and afternoon journeys) to enable them to develop road safety, problem solving and personal safety skills.
2. To adopt a flexible approach to the hours worked in order to attend work related activity, outside core hours, in accordance to the needs of the client and the organisation.
3. Liaise with travel training co-ordinator / school / parents and carers regularly to monitor and evaluate progress of young people both verbally and in writing.
4. To participate in risk assessments and maintain good safety procedures for students when out in the community.
5. To co-deliver group sessions in schools, colleges and other organisations across all travel training projects where required.
6. To identify, risk assess and follow safe and appropriate journeys for each individual.
7. To work with the schools or colleges identified and liaise with school staff as appropriate.
8. To comply with Health and Safety policies and procedures.

6. Any other duties commensurate with the post.
