We’re looking for an enthusiastic, forward-thinking and multilingual Retail Sales Assistant to join our busy souvenir store team.
Our stores welcome customers from across the UK and from all over the world. Being able to communicate confidently with customers in their preferred language can make a huge difference to their shopping experience and help us provide the exceptional service our customers expect.
What Will You Be Doing?
As a Retail Sales Assistant, you’ll play an important role in the day-to-day success of the store.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing a warm, friendly and knowledgeable welcome to every customer.
- Delivering excellent customer service to both UK and international visitors.
- Using your additional language skills to communicate with customers and help them feel comfortable and confident when shopping with us.
- Actively engaging with customers and identifying opportunities to increase sales.
- Recommending products and confidently promoting our key ranges.
- Helping customers find the perfect Scottish souvenir, gift or Highlandwear product.
- Working towards individual and store sales targets.
- Building rapport with customers and creating a memorable shopping experience.
- Keeping the shop floor fully stocked, tidy and visually appealing.
- Operating the EPOS/till system accurately and efficiently.
- Handling cash and card transactions in line with company procedures.
- Supporting stock deliveries, replenishment and stock checks.
- Working closely with colleagues to ensure the store operates smoothly during busy periods.
- Following company policies and procedures, including Health & Safety and cash-handling procedures.
- Taking initiative and looking for ways to improve the customer experience and store performance.
- Supporting colleagues and stepping up when the store gets particularly busy
What Are We Looking For?
We’re looking for someone who is positive, energetic, commercially minded and confident communicating with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous retail experience, preferably in a busy customer-facing environment.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- A sales-driven mindset and confidence approaching customers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in English and an additional language.
- The ability to communicate confidently with customers in your additional language.
- The ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
- A proactive approach and confidence using your own initiative.
- The ability to remain calm, organised and professional during busy periods.
- Good attention to detail.
- A flexible approach to working hours, including weekends and busy seasonal periods.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
