Andair is a family-owned British engineering and manufacturing company specialising in the design and manufacture of precision fuel system components for the aviation industry.
Over the years, Andair has grown from a small family engineering business into a globally recognised name within the aviation industry, with our products being used in aircraft around the world.
Our components are manufactured and assembled by our team here in the UK and supplied to aircraft manufacturers, aircraft builders and customers across an international market.
Joining Andair means becoming part of a close-knit and experienced team, where every member of staff plays an important role in producing and delivering products that carry the Andair name.
We pride ourselves on the quality of our products, our attention to detail and the reputation that Andair has built within the aviation industry. We are looking for someone who takes the same pride in their work and wants to become a valued member of the Andair team.
Role Overview
We are looking for a reliable, organised and enthusiastic Stores & Dispatch Assistant to support the day-to-day operation of our stores, production and dispatch departments.
The role is responsible for ensuring components are correctly received and booked into stock, stored in the appropriate locations and accurately picked ready for production.
Once stores and production requirements have been completed, the role will move across to our packing and dispatch area, helping to prepare completed customer orders for shipment to customers around the world.
Accuracy, organisation and attention to detail are particularly important, as many of the components handled are precision parts manufactured for use within the aviation industry.
Key ResponsibilitiesGoods In & Stores
- Receive components and parts into the stores department.
- Check incoming components against the relevant paperwork and quantities.
- Accurately book components into the company's stock system.
- Ensure components are placed in the correct designated stores locations.
- Maintain a clean, organised and efficient stores environment.
- Report any discrepancies, shortages or damaged components to the appropriate person.
- Assist with stock checks and general stock control when required.
Production Order Picking
- Pick components from stores against production and build orders.
- Ensure the correct part numbers and quantities are selected.
- Prepare and organise complete component kits ready for the production and assembly teams.
- Identify and report any shortages that may prevent an order from progressing.
- Ensure components are handled carefully to prevent damage or contamination.
- Work closely with the production team to help ensure components are available when required.
Packing & Dispatch
Once stores and production picking requirements have been completed, you will assist within our packing and dispatch area.
Responsibilities will include:
- Packing completed customer orders safely and professionally.
- Checking products and quantities against the relevant customer order and dispatch paperwork.
- Selecting suitable packaging to ensure products are properly protected during transport.
- Preparing shipping labels and relevant documentation.
- Booking shipments with the specified courier or freight provider.
- Selecting the correct shipping service for each customer order.
- Preparing both UK and international shipments.
- Ensuring completed shipments are ready for courier collection within the required timescale.
- Maintaining a clean, organised and efficient packing and dispatch area.
Working as Part of the Andair Team
This role works across several areas of the business and will involve regular communication with our production, assembly, sales and office teams.
You will play an important part in keeping products moving efficiently through Andair — from components first arriving at our factory, through manufacturing and assembly, to completed products leaving our doors for customers around the world.
We operate as a close-knit team and encourage everyone to take responsibility and pride in their area of the business. Although your main responsibilities will be within stores and dispatch, we are looking for someone who is happy to help the wider team when required and contribute towards the smooth day-to-day running of the company.
Every component that leaves Andair represents the quality and reputation we have built within the global aviation industry, and this role plays an important part in maintaining those standards.
Key Skills & Attributes
The successful candidate should be:
- Highly organised and methodical.
- Accurate with excellent attention to detail.
- Comfortable working with part numbers, quantities and computer-based stock systems.
- Able to work independently and manage their own workload.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Able to follow established procedures.
- Comfortable working as part of a small, close-knit team.
- Able to prioritise work to meet production and shipping deadlines.
- Careful when handling precision components and finished products.
- Willing to move between stores, production support and dispatch duties depending on the needs of the business.
- Someone who takes pride in their work and the quality of the finished result.
Experience
Previous experience within stores, warehousing, stock control, picking, packing or dispatch would be beneficial but is not essential, as training can be provided.
Experience within an engineering, manufacturing or aviation environment would also be advantageous.
More importantly, we are looking for someone with the right attitude, good attention to detail and a willingness to learn and become part of the Andair team.
Role Objective
The overall objective of the Stores & Dispatch Assistant is to ensure that components move efficiently and accurately through the business — from being received into stock, through production picking and assembly, to the final packing and dispatch of completed customer orders.
By doing this, you will help ensure our production team has the components they need when they need them, while also helping Andair continue to provide the level of quality and service expected by our customers around the world.
