The Standard is a vibrant gastropub and bar in the heart of Loughton, known for great food, drinks, and atmosphere. We're growing fast and looking for an enthusiastic, driven individual to join our team and help us fill the venue – bringing in new customers, building local partnerships, and getting our name out there.
The Role
We're looking for a Sales & Marketing Executive to take ownership of driving new business into the venue and supporting our marketing efforts. This is a hands-on, out-and-about role – you won't be sat behind a desk all day. You'll be knocking on doors, building relationships, organising events, and helping shape how we promote the venue.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively generate new business for the venue through local outreach – businesses, offices, community groups, and organisations nearby
- Build and maintain relationships with local companies to encourage bookings (work lunches, after-work drinks, private hire, Christmas parties, etc.)
- Plan and organise events at the venue to drive footfall (quiz nights, live music, themed nights, seasonal events, etc.)
- Identify and pursue new sales opportunities to keep the venue busy across quieter periods
- Support with marketing activity, including social media content, promotions, and campaigns
- Represent the venue at local networking events, markets, and community activities
- Track leads, bookings, and sales activity, and report on results
- Work closely with the management team to align sales pushes with venue capacity and events calendar
What We're Looking For
- Confident, outgoing, and comfortable approaching new people and businesses
- A genuine interest in sales, marketing, or events (experience is a bonus but not essential – attitude matters more)
- Self-motivated with the drive to go out and generate opportunities, not just wait for them
- Good communication skills, both face-to-face and in writing
- Some understanding of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) is a plus
- Well organised and able to manage your own time and workload
- Based locally or able to easily travel around the Loughton/Essex area
