About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Live Hire Desk Controller to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong background in the tool hire, plant hire, or construction equipment industry who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional customer service.
As a Live Hire Desk Controller, you will be responsible for managing hire enquiries, coordinating equipment availability, and ensuring customers receive the right power tools and equipment when they need them. You will act as the key point of contact between customers, suppliers, and internal teams to maximise utilisation and revenue.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage incoming hire enquiries via telephone, email, and online platforms.
- Coordinate the hire and off-hire process for a range of power tools and equipment.
- Source equipment through internal stock and external supplier networks.
- Produce quotations, process orders, and manage hire contracts.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers.
- Monitor equipment availability and maximise fleet utilisation.
- Resolve customer queries and issues efficiently and professionally.
- Ensure all hire transactions are completed accurately and in line with company procedures.
- Work closely with operations, transport, and workshop teams to ensure smooth delivery and collection schedules.
- Support business growth through upselling and identifying new opportunities.
About You
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience within a tool hire, plant hire, construction equipment, or rental industry environment.
- Strong knowledge of power tools and associated equipment.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Confident using computer systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Commercially aware with a customer-focused mindset.
Desirable
- Existing knowledge of major power tool brands and equipment.
- Experience in a busy hire desk or rental coordination role.
