The Role
We’re looking for a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Trade Counter Sales Assistant to join our Kidderminster team. You'll be the first point of contact for many of our customers, so excellent customer service, strong communication, and confident phone skills are essential. You’ll help customers find the right products, offer solutions, and play a key role in building lasting customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve customers face-to-face and over the phone.
- Answer incoming phone calls and handle enquiries in a professional, helpful manner.
- Provide expert product advice tailored to customer needs.
- Process sales, returns, quotes, and customer orders efficiently.
- Help build and maintain strong relationships with local tradespeople.
- Support the promotion of new lines and offers.
- Keep the counter area clean, tidy, and well-stocked.
- Liaise with the yard and delivery teams to ensure smooth order fulfilment.
What You’ll Need
- Proven knowledge of building materials (essential).
- Previous experience in a builders merchant or similar trade counter role.
- Excellent phone manner and confidence handling customer calls.
- A friendly, confident, and professional approach to customers.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using point-of-sale or sales order systems.
- A proactive attitude and ability to work well under pressure.
Hours
Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm. Saturday mornings on a rota.
