Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Warehouse/Service Repair Operative to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting warehouse operations, handling materials, and assisting with repair and maintenance tasks. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills within a dynamic environment, contributing to efficient stock management and service repair processes. The position requires a proactive individual with mechanical aptitude and experience in warehouse management.
Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts safely and efficiently to move goods within the warehouse.
- Manage stock levels using the Warehouse Management System (WMS), ensuring accurate inventory records.
- Handle materials, including loading, unloading, and organising stock items.
- Assist with picking and packing orders for dispatch, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Support shipping and receiving activities by preparing goods for transport and verifying incoming deliveries.
- Conduct basic maintenance and repairs on equipment or machinery as required.
- Utilise mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot issues and perform minor repairs during service operations.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Assist with construction-related tasks when necessary, supporting ongoing projects.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in warehouse operations or logistics is preferred.
- Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS) such as AS400 is desirable.
- Mechanical knowledge or experience with repair work is advantageous.
- Ability to operate forklifts safely; relevant certification is a plus.
- Experience with materials handling, stock management, and shipping & receiving procedures.
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and manual handling of goods up to 25kg or more.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in stock control and order fulfilment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Construction or related trade experience will be considered an asset.
