Full of Beans are looking for a fun, experienced Level 1 and 2 or equivalent Sports Coaches to join our team. We deliver breakfast clubs, lunch clubs and after school clubs within our partner primary schools on the Wirral.
We are looking for strong coaches/teachers who can commit to delivering high quality, FUN sessions within our schools. You will receive lots of support and opportunities to grow and expand your qualifications. We are here to support you and you become part of the "Full of Beans" team.
You may want to commit to regular weekly teaching hours but we will also consider those who may just be available for cover.
We also may be able to offer you the opportunity to train with one of our PE teachers with a view to you taking PE lessons in the future.
Lesson plans will be discussed in advance and provided where necessary. Sometimes the coach will be the only adult responsible for a group of up to 20 children, other times there may be support or teaching staff present.
- Work to a high legal and ethical standard at all times, paying particular attention to Child Protection & Health & Safety.
- Ensure lessons are safe, fun, fair, accessible, well managed and enable pupils to enjoy a sense of achievement.
· Have the ability to adapt sessions appropriately dependent on the needs of young people.
- Ensure acceptable pupil behaviour at all times
- Be aware of all of and adhere to all school and Full of Beans policies & procedures
- Arrive at classes at least 10 minutes before lessons begin to set up and prepare
- Wear Full of Beans uniform at all times when taking classes, along with appropriate sports clothing and footwear to enable you to be clearly identified by the children and staff. Long hair should be tied back
- Feedback any issues following a class asap e.g. Unacceptable behaviour, accidents or near misses. We recommend all coaches write up summary notes after each lesson & record any incidents as these notes could be required at a later date
- Keep attendance records for every class
- Deliver healthy lifestyle messages within classes at appropriate times
- Be an outstanding role model for all the young people we work with
- Support the Director in establishing the Full of Beans Brand across the Wirral and creating a positive image of the company.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential :
· To run a club on your own, you must hold an up to date Level 1 or Level 2 coaching qualification (depending on type of activity) or equivalent with expertise and experience in an area of coaching & be able to provide evidence. We are particularly interested to hear from coaches who have experience in delivering multi-skills clubs to children.
· A support coach must have an up to date Level 1 coaching qualification or equivalent with some experience of working with children.
· Provide copies of enhanced CRB certificates (the company will also usually apply for an enhanced CRB for regular coaches)
· First Aid Qualification
· Safeguarding Qualification (we can provide a link for you to do this online)
· Be able to provide at least 2 referees, one of which should include a previous employer
· A minimum of 1 year working with children and a track record of inspiring young people to participate in sport and physical activity.
· Willingness & flexibility to work varying hours.
· Excellent time keeper.
· Approachable with a positive attitude.
· Good communicator, especially with children but also headteachers and senior staff in shools. Can communicate instructions and commands using clear, simply language and demonstrate activities by breaking tasks down into a sequence.
· Be a responsible role model gaining the respect and trust of the people you work with.
Desirable :
· Full clean drivers licence and own transportation.
· Well organised and able to write progress reports
· Keen to undertake further on-going professional development and keep up to date with new developments in sport and education.
· Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
· Innovative, with a track record of devising resources and ideas to aid learning.
· An understanding of equity issues in sport and promote fair play.
