We are seeking dedicated English and Maths tutors to provide one-to-one support for learners who are not currently in mainstream education, at Functional Skills or GCSE level. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse range of learners at different stages of their educational journey, helping them to develop their academic abilities, communication skills, confidence, and overall well-being.
We are particularly interested in tutors with experience supporting learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN), who can adopt a flexible, creative, and learner-centred approach to ensure education is accessible and tailored to individual needs.
Tutors will be given access to BKSB learning platform that will allow tutors to guage learners academic learning levels & create a curriculum bespoke to each learner. This is a helpful tool tutors can use to support learners to make progress.
Responsibilities
- Deliver personalised one-to-one tutoring sessions tailored to each learner’s needs
- Plan and develop customised lesson materials aligned with learning objectives
- Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching strategies as required
- Support learners with homework, exam preparation, and specific challenges
- Create a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment
- Work collaboratively with parents, teachers, and other professionals to support learner progress
- Maintain accurate records of sessions, attendance, and progress reports
Requirements
- Proven experience in tutoring or teaching, ideally across a range of ages and abilities
- Strong understanding of effective teaching methods and educational best practices
- Experience working with children and young people, including those with SEN
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate learners
- Patience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for supporting student development
- Relevant qualifications in education or subject specialisms are desirable but not essential
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- QTS is desirable but not essential.
- Access to reliable transport to travel to learners

Pay: £25.00-£30.00 per hour
