Job Purpose
The Logistics Team is responsible for enabling the safe, cost-effective, sustainable, and compliant delivery of HS2 through the provision of industry-leading logistics guidance, integrated planning, and assurance.
As a Logistics Manager North at HS2 you will be responsible for undertaking a risk-based approach to the assurance of the Logistics supporting the Works, whilst maintaining industry standards of health and safety, and supporting the required project delivery outcomes, namely, efficiency, quality, environmental impact, Undertakings and Assurance obligations.
The Logistics Manager will also provide support to the HS2 NEC3 Project Manager and be accountable for providing specialist Logistic support and expertise at each stage of the construction process. You will influence, support, and hold accountable the Contractor Logistic Lead to implementation of their Logistic Strategy
Establish and maintain key external stakeholder relationships with other Government and industry bodies such as DVSA, RSSB, CILT, CLOCS
About the role:
- Accountable for providing specialist advice and expertise at all stages of the construction process to the NEC 3 Project Manager in administering the contract.
- Responsible for assessing the feasibility of the work.
- Responsible for Accepting, monitoring and assuring contractor compliance through their Construction Logistics Strategy (CLS), Construction Logistics Plans (CLP), and Logistic Environment Safety Sustainability Management Plan (ESSMP) to meet quality and safety assurance purposes and to ensure the efficiency of the coordinated strategy and ensuring contractors implement their legal requirements under the HS2 Act specific to vehicle safety and professional driver standards.
- Responsible for liaising with the relevant teams within HS2 and the contractors to identify the logistics requirements in each area based on material demands, location of suppliers/receivers and plant requirements and people requirements to form a base logistics plan for each area.
- Responsible for liaising with the mass haul manager and earthworks teams on the Mass Haul strategy to identify vehicle movement requirements in each area and amend the plans to suit.
- Responsible for collaboration with the other Logistics Managers and work closely other HS2 stakeholders to ensure interface items and arrangements have been incorporated into the construction logistics plans.
- Responsible for assisting the Senior Logistics Manager in the review, production, and delivery of route-wide requirements, processes, coordinated strategy and programme for construction logistics.
- Responsible for undertaking an assurance role during planning and construction, monitoring and reporting on the contractor’s management of logistics, safety, and compliance with the EMRs and Undertakings and Assurances in each area and for the success and efficiency of the Project, provide support and advice on logistics issues to HS2 team and contractors.
- Responsible for the planning and integration of the MWSC, Rail Systems and Operations contracts and providing logistics guidance and support for the Rail Systems Alliance
- Responsible for leading and supporting collaboration and logistic forums.
- Accountable for maintaining the integrity of HS2’s compound and gate naming conventions with the contractors and within HS2 asset management system.
